Porcelain Crowns In Chiswick

Dental crowns are covers or caps that fit over a damaged or discoloured tooth to protect it and restore the original appearance and function.

If a patient has a broken tooth, or one that is weakened or discoloured by decay or a large filling, a dental crown is an ideal solution to improve the tooth strength, shape and colour.

Porcelain is often considered to be the best material for a crown. Our porcelain crowns are custom-made to be indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth, providing a strong and lasting solution to discolouration, damage or weakness. Your dentist will take the time to discuss the most suitable type of crown for you, based on your requirements and circumstances.

When it comes to the treatment itself, your dentist will remove a thin layer of the outer surface of the tooth, the same thickness as the crown, leaving the strong inner core. They will then take some impressions, which a dental technician will use to create a crown that will exactly fit your mouth and bite.

You will have a temporary crown fitted while your permanent one is made. When your new crown is ready (about 1 to 2 weeks later), you will go back to the dentist to have it fitted with a special cement or adhesive, which will seal the crown in place.

Initially, you may be aware of the crown as it will be a slightly different shape to the original tooth, but after a few days you should no longer notice it. If you have any problems at all, please just get in touch and we will check the crown as soon as possible for you.
